Our Section Internationale Primary Integrated Programme (PIP) offers 6 hours of English tuition a week, including English Language & Literature, Science & Geography (“découverte du monde“). These English classes are taught by experienced English-speaking teachers and our programme is based on the British curriculum.
The pupils attend Pasteur Primary School, La Celle-Saint-Cloud for the French national curriculum on a full-time basis and come together for two 3-hour periods, typically either 2 afternoons or 1 morning + 1 afternoon. These 6 hours are incorporated into their French Primary timetable and the children have NO lessons on a Wednesday.
There is an entrance test in English to get into the Primary Integrated Programme; pupils must be strong academically, in both French and English. Candidates who are not currently in the French system (in France or accredited schools abroad), will be asked to provide CNED (or equivalent) reports OR sit entrance tests in French/Maths.
Ideally families live in the catchment area for Pasteur Primary School. For families living outside the catchment area but within the town of La Celle-Saint-Cloud, places may be available without a “dérogation”for the Primary Integrated Programme, but are subject to availability of space within the French primary school and are NOT guaranteed. If you live outside La Celle-Saint-Cloud, you will require a “dérogation“, once your child has passed the entrance test and has been confirmed eligible for the programme.
During the GS and CP years, we build upon the skills achieved in Infant school (Maternelle). Reading capabilities are further developed for fluency and word recognition using the Oxford Reading Tree scheme. Writing skills become more structured and meaningful. Oral skills remain very important and students are encouraged to share their news, sing songs, learn rhymes and share stories during story time. “Discovering the World” (Science, History & Geography), which is part of the French syllabus, is also taught alongside the English language programme, usually in the form of topic work, helping to enrich the student’s English, knowledge and build self-confidence.
Homework is set on a weekly basis. Usually some writing, reading and grammar or spelling tasks. Parental support is essential.
In CE1/CE2, the graded reading scheme is continued, as well as students being encouraged to select and read their own choice of books from the library. Reading and writing skills are developed introducing more complex texts for comprehension exercises and free writing is often inspired by various topics throughout the year. During the latter half of CE1 and throughout the CE2 year, students will also study various books, as a class, together. A variety of text books are used to maintain spelling, comprehension and grammar skills. Weekly news telling and presenting of different projects will encourage listening and speaking skills. “Discovering the World” (Science, Geography & History), which is part of the French syllabus, is also taught alongside the English language programme, usually in the form of topic work, helping to enrich the student’s English, knowledge and build self-confidence.

In CM1/CM2, the children read and study various class novels, which encourage discussion and topic work. Comprehension exercises, structuring and improving writing skills, story writing, dictionary and vocabulary work are often focused on throughout the year. A variety of text books are used to maintain spelling, comprehension and grammar skills. Weekly news telling and presenting of different projects will encourage listening and oral skills.Science and Geography, based on the French syllabus, is taught in English, enriching the student’s knowledge, vocabulary and writing skills as well as questioning the world around them.
